Among those speaking was Mayor Graves, who reflected on leadership transition and expressed that her focus would not be on seeking another term but instead on supporting and uplifting the next generation of leadership in Brooklyn Center. In her remarks, she emphasized the deeper meaning of public service and legacy:

“My legacy is not defined by the challenges I faced, but by the community we strengthened, the young people we uplifted, and the belief we nurtured that justice pursued with compassion is still justice.”

She went on to underscore her confidence in the future of the city and the importance of continuity in leadership grounded in trust, compassion, and community-centered values.

Mayor Graves further emphasized her support for Dr. Kragness, stating:

She leads with integrity, empathy, and a deep commitment to residents — with a head for the numbers and a heart for the people.”

Additional community support included Johnny Opara, Founder and CEO of JO Companies, who graciously hosted the event at Wangstad Commons, John Baker, and representatives connected to Be The Change Minnesota, all of whom acknowledge the importance of collaborative leadership, community investment, and creating pathways for residents to shape the future of the city.
