Why are you running?

I’m running for Mayor because I love Brooklyn Center and believe our city deserves leadership that is present, transparent, and focused on bringing people together. As a City Council Member, I’ve spent the past four years listening to residents by knocking on doors, attending community events, and meeting people where they are. I’ve learned that the best ideas for Brooklyn Center come from the people who live here. I’m running to build on those conversations by creating a city where families feel safe, businesses thrive, neighborhoods are well cared for, and every resident feels heard. I’ll continue leading with integrity, accountability, and a commitment to putting our community first.

What life or professional experiences led you to seek this position?

Serving on the City Council has given me firsthand experience making difficult decisions and understanding the needs of our community. Professionally, I’ve spent more than 20 years in accounting and financial leadership, managing budgets, solving complex problems, and ensuring accountability. Those experiences have prepared me to be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars while making thoughtful decisions that strengthen our city. I believe effective leadership starts with listening, building trust, working collaboratively, and following through on the commitments we make to our residents.

What are the top issues you're discussing with voters and why?

Over the past four years, one of the concerns I’ve heard most often from residents is affordability, especially rising property taxes. People want to feel safe, but they also want to be able to afford to stay in the community they call home. As an accountant with more than 20 years of financial leadership experience, I understand the importance of being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars. I will carefully evaluate city finances, identify efficiencies, and support thoughtful economic development that broadens our tax base and helps ease the burden on homeowners without compromising the quality city services residents deserve. My commitment is to make fiscally responsible decisions that keep Brooklyn Center both safe and affordable.
